With greater awareness about our bodies and health, also comes a lot of anxiety. Most of us are always worried about common diseases that affect a large part of our population. As bad as the extra stress is for us, with the increasingly unhealthy lifestyle habits we practice, being health conscience or paranoid can go a long way in helping us take precautionary methods. A large number of people these days go in for regular heart check-ups, breast cancer screenings and colonoscopies etc. and for many these have proved lifesaving.
A colonoscopy is a medical procedure that examines the colon (the gut) for any abnormal or unusual growths. Colon polyps, found in the colon lining or rectum- they may not be large but in time could become cancerous- because of which they are removed as soon as they are found. There is no substantial known cause for the formation of these polyps but they can be easily removed during a colonoscopy.
